Centre on track to roar with creativity

Construction progress on course at Porth Teigr

New images show that construction of the Welsh Government's new creative industries centre at Porth Teigr is well underway, and is set to deliver office space for creative businesses and strengthen the creative hub in the area.

The £6million centre, which is being developed by igloo and constructed by VINCI Construction UK for the Welsh Government, is due to be available for occupation in Spring 2014 and will be the first building at Porth Teigr to deliver office space to the market.

The 40,000 sq ft centre will have the capacity to accommodate up to 300 staff, with the flexibility to accommodate a number of SMEs or a single occupier.

Mark Hallett, Development Director at igloo - the developers behind Porth Teigr - said: "The new centre will provide excellent opportunities for businesses and individuals within the growing creative sector to work collaboratively.  It is a crucial part of the Welsh Government's vision for Porth Teigr which is to develop a 'hub' for the creative industries."

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: "It's good to see the centre taking shape - it's an important investment in infrastructure to support the development of our creative industries sector. It will build on the momentum already created by the purpose built BBC Roath Lock studios and set to become a very real asset for Welsh companies working across one of our key economic sectors."
